LEXINGTON, Va. – Three goals over the final 13 minutes of the game powered the Washington and Lee women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Sewanee at home on Sunday afternoon.

The Generals improve to 4-0-1 overall with the win, while the Tigers fall to 1-3-1 on the season.

Both team played an even first half, with the Generals earning some momentum at the end of the half after heavy possession and multiple shots.

The Generals continued to pressure the Tigers' defense throughout the second half, and finally broke through on the scoreboard in the 77th minute when first-year forward Lindsay White (Greenville, S.C./JL Mann) found some space on the left side, just beyond the 18-yard box, and blasted an attempt to the top left corner of the frame to break the scoreless tie.

Just five minutes later, White scored again after a shot hit the crossbar and the Tigers failed on the clearing attempt.  The ball came right to White and she finished the attempt from close range for her second goal.

The final W&L goal came in the 89th minute when junior midfielder Elle Prillaman (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) passed off to first-year forward Sophia Roche' (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) on the right side. Roche' needed just one touch before she fired a shot past the Tigers' keeper for her first career goal.

White led the way for the Generals beyond her two goals, finishing with a game-high five shots. W&L received a balanced attack on the day, with seven players finishing with two or more shots, and 11 total players shooting at least once.

Six different Sewanee players took one shot in the game and combined for three shots on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Grace Coombs (Boca Raton, Fla./Saint Andrews School) (4-0-1) earned the win for the Generals, making three saves in 90 minutes to record her fourth shutout of the season. For the Tigers, sophomore Hanna Judycki (1-3-1) took the loss as the goalkeeper, saving three shots.

For the game, the Generals held advantages in shots (21-6), shots on goal (6-3) and corner kicks (8-1).

The Generals will return to the pitch on Wednesday when they host Averett in a 4:00 pm showdown.
