Men's Swimming opens with 146.5-115.5 win at Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's swimming team opened its 2019-20 campaign with a 146.5-115.5 dual meet win at Mary Washington on Friday evening.

Highlights from the meet:

-The Generals won 10 of the 14 events on the day and saw six different swimmers post a combined 12 top-two finishes in individual races.

-The team was paced by juniors Patrick Sullivan (Pawleys Island, S.C. / Waccamaw) and Danny Lynch (Richmond, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School), who both won three individual events and helped one relay each to a win. Sullivan won the 100 (47.22), 200 (1:44.80) and 500 free (5:00.00) races, while swimming the opening leg for the winning 400 free relay (3:11.27).

-Lynch came out on top in the 100 (53.83) and 200 back (1:59.66) races, while also winning the 200 individual medley (1:57.81), and swam the opening leg on the winning 200 medley relay (1:37.54).

-Sophomore Steve Warren (Westfield, N.J. / Westfield) claimed the other two individual wins for W&L in the 100 (59.45) and 200 breast (2:11.20) events.

-Sullivan, Evan Kramer, Echols, Van Vooren – 1st 400 free relay (3:11.27)

-Danny Lynch – 1st 100 back (53.83), 1st 200 back (1:59.66), 1st 200 IM (1:57.81)
-Steve Warren – 1st 100 breast (59.45), 1st 200 breast (2:11.20)
-Todd Echols – 2nd 100 breast (1:00.67)
-Jared Nickodem – 2nd 200 fly (1:58.43), 2nd 100 fly (52.65)
-Conner Van Vooren – 2nd 50 free (22.02)

Up next:

The Generals will return to the pool on Saturday when they host the ODAC Relays, beginning at 12:00 pm at the W&L Natatorium.
