LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee Michael F. Walsh Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced the appointment of Ryan Rohde as assistant men's lacrosse coach.

Rohde comes to W&L after serving as an assistant coach at Ursinus College for the 2019 season.  In this role, he helped lead the Bears to their first-ever Centennial Conference Championship and a No. 13 final ranking in the USILA Division III poll.  Ursinus posted eight wins over ranked opponents, broke the program record for goals and set 12 individual game, season and career records.

Rohde's collegiate coaching experience also includes five seasons as an assistant at Randolph-Macon beginning in 2012.  He helped the Yellow Jackets to their first-ever semifinal appearance in the ODAC Tournament and, in 2013, R-MC achieved a 10-win season for just the second time in program history.

On the high school level, Rohde was an assistant lacrosse coach at Unionville (Pa.) from 2007-10 and he served as the head coach at Hanover High School for the 2014 campaign, leading the team to a 12-4 overall mark en route to earning conference coach of the year laurels.  He was also an assistant coach at Malvern Prep for the 2018 season, helping the team to a 15-5 overall record and an Inter-Ac League Championship.

A 2007 graduate of Salisbury University, Rohde earned a bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies with a focus in geography and physical education.  A four-year member of the Sea Gulls' lacrosse team, he earned USILA Third Team All-America laurels as a midfielder in 2006.

Rhode's teams won National Championships in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and they posted a 79-2 overall record across his four seasons.
