W&L Men's Golf Competes at the VSGA Intercollegiate

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The sixth-ranked Washington and Lee men's golf team sent a group of individuals to participate in the VSGA Intercollegiate held at the Blacksburg Country Club on Monday.

Lynchburg leads the team portion of the event with a -6 score of 282, while Lynchburg's Harry Hodgert and Averett's Elias Haavisto are tied for the individual lead with a -5 score of 67.

First-year Caleb Choe (Virginia Beach, Va. / Cape Henry Collegiate) leads the W&L golfers in the event after the first of two rounds, shooting a -1 score of 71 that is tied for sixth out of the 93 golfers in the event.

Classmate Evan Owan (Germantown, Md. / Gonzaga) shot an even-par score of 72 that is tied for 11th overall, while junior Evans Copeland (West Point, Ga. / Brookstone School) is tied for 35th with a 77 (+5).

Senior Boyd Peete (Henrico, Va. / St. Christopher's) carded an 80 (+8) that is tied for 56th and first-year Owen Malcolm (Atlanta, Ga. / Holy Innocents') posted an 81 (+9) that is tied for 60th.

Action continues on Tuesday with the final round from the Blacksburg Country Club.
