    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced on Thursday that Washington and Lee has swept the league’s Commissioner’s Cups for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

    The Washington and Lee Department of Athletics held its annual Athletics Awards Ceremony at Lee Chapel on Tuesday evening.  The event, made possible by the generosity of the Brookby Family, honors student-athletes and administrators who have made the 2016-17 school year a tremendous success.
  • Numerous W&L Students Earn Winter Scholar-Athlete Awards

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 233 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

    On Saturday, February 4, the Washington and Lee University student organization 24 held a “Be The Match” bone marrow registration drive in the Warner Center and had over 87 people register during the event.

    The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced is All-Academic Teams and individual All-Academic honorees on Thursday and the Washington and Lee women received the team award and had four athletes recognized.
  • Numerous W&L Students Earn Fall Scholar-Athlete Awards

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 242 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed fall term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.50. The prior record for scholar-athletes in the fall or winter term was 224 set during the fall of 2014.

    Washington and Lee sophomore Samantha Yates (Birmingham, Ala./St. Paul's School) competed at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship on Saturday at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
  • W&L Women's XC Takes Fourth at NCAA Regional & Yates Qualifies for Nationals

    The Washington and Lee women’s cross country team finished fourth out of 27 schools at the NCAA South/Southeast Region Championship on Saturday hosted by Berry College. Sophomore Samantha Yates (Birmingham, Ala./St. Paul's School) was the top individual for the Generals, finishing ninth out of the 213 competitors to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championship.

    The Washington and Lee women’s cross country team placed five runners in the Top 14 on its way to winning the 2016 ODAC Championship on Saturday at the Buena Vista Golf Course.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its Athletes of the Week on Monday for the week ending October 9, and Washington and Lee senior midfielder Kendall Peterson (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep) was named the Field Hockey Player of the Week, while sophomore Samantha Yates (Birmingham, Ala./St. Paul's School) earned the Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honor.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2016 women’s cross country preseason coaches’ poll on Friday, and defending league champion Washington and Lee took the top spot out of 12 teams. The Generals received 11 of the 12 available first-place votes and 121 total points.
