  • Numerous W&L Students Earn Winter Scholar-Athlete Awards

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 257 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

  • Numerous W&L Students Earn Fall Term Scholar-Athlete Awards

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 253 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed fall term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.50. The prior record for scholar-athletes in the fall or winter term was 242 set last fall.

    Despite a goal from junior forward Caroline Peters (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Latin School) the fifth-seeded Washington and Lee women’s soccer team fell to fourth-seeded Bridgewater, 2-1, in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Bridgewater.

    With 15.5 seconds left in double overtime, junior midfielder Megan Engeland (Yardley, Pa. / Pennsbury) scored the game-winning goal to give the Washington and Lee women’s soccer team a 2-1 victory at Roanoke on Tuesday at Kerr Stadium. The win marked the 300th for W&L Head Coach Neil Cunningham.
