LEXINGTON, Va. – The second-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team had 12 different players score in a 22-1 triumph over Randolph in ODAC action on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
The Generals (14-1, 8-0) tallied 10 goals in the first 8:47 of the game. In that span, senior attacker Lauren Procaccino (Manhasset, N.Y. / Manhasset) found the back of the net three times.
The Blue and White scored six more goals in the final 18 minutes of the first to take a 16-0 lead into intermission. First-year midfielder Carson Pinney (Richmond, Va. / Collegiate School) tallied three goals, while first-year attacker AP Smith (Baltimore, Md. / Bryn Mawr) dished out three assists during the spurt.
Sophomore attacker Tyrah Cobb-Davis opened up the second half with the WildCats' (3-13, 0-8) lone goal off of a free position shot at the 27:20 mark.
W&L closed out the game with six goals to reach the final margin, 22-1. The Generals have defeated the WildCats 12 consecutive times.
For the game, Washington and Lee held an advantage in shots, 38-3, and in draw controls, 23-2. The Generals also picked up 13 ground balls, as opposed to Randolph's five.
First-year Elliot Gilbert (Bedford, N.Y. / Deerfield Academy) and junior Hannah Wiltshire (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton) split time in goal for the Generals, and Gilbert made one save for W&L. Junior Anna Belliveau played the entire contest in goal for RC and made seven stops.
Pinney led the Generals with four goals and an assist, while Procaccino tallied four goals. AP Smith dished out a game-high three assists and sophomore attacker Rebecca Wellford (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS) won nine draw controls.
W&L will be the top seed in the ODAC Tournament and will return to action on May 6 when it hosts a semifinal contest. The opponent and time is to be determined.
