NORFOLK, Va. – The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently announced its 2017 Men's Scholar All-America teams and individuals and Washington and Lee was honored as a team, while first-year Jared Nickodem (Jackson, Wis. / Cedarburg Senior) was recognized as an individual.
The Generals were one of 128 Division III swimming and diving programs to be recognized for having a team grade-point average of 3.0 or better. W&L posted a 3.24 combined team GPA. The University of the Ozarks and Vassar College tied for the highest team average with a 3.71.
Nickodem was among 201 Division III men named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America squad for recording a GPA of 3.50 or higher and posting an individual NCAA "B" cut time. He was an Honorable Mention selection.
Nickodem earned honorable mention honors after posting an NCAA "B" cut time in the 400 IM at the ODAC Championships. He won the event with a time of 4:06.56. The First Team All-ODAC honoree also took first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:53.73. Nickodem also set a new ODAC and meet record in the 200 fly (1:52.57) during the preliminaries of the ODAC Championship.
The Generals captured their third consecutive ODAC title and had 18 Generals earn All-ODAC honors during the 2016-17 season.
