FOREST, Va. — The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2017-18 All-Academic Team on Friday and Washington and Lee once again led the league in number of athletes honored.
The Generals totaled 370 of the conference-record 1,994 All-Academic Team members named from the 16 member institutions. Next on the list was Shenandoah with 223 and Randolph-Macon with 203.
Eligibility for the ODAC All-Academic Team is open to any student-athlete that competes in a conference-sponsored sport, regardless of academic class. He or she must achieve at least a 3.25 grade-point average for the year to be considered for an ODAC All-Academic Award.
Among W&L’s 370 honorees were 59 First Team All-ODAC selections from throughout the 2017-18 year. In addition, nine of W&L’s 11 ODAC Player of the Year awardees were among those on the All-Academic list, while 17 of the school’s 24 All-Americans were honored.
The Blue and White compiled a 204-105-3 (.659) overall record during the 2017-18 school year, claiming 11 ODAC Championships (men’s cross country, women’s cross country, field hockey, football, women’s golf, women’s lacrosse, men’s swimming, women’s swimming, men’s tennis and women’s tennis, men’s indoor track & field).
Additionally, the Generals claimed the ODAC’s Dan Wooldridge Overall Champions Cup for the 16th straight year.
