FOREST, Va. — The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its Athletes of the Week on Monday for the week ending April 16, and Washington and Lee had two athletes honored.
Senior Mac Strehler (Moseley, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) was named the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, and senior Lizzy Stanton (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista South) garnered the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week accolade.
Strehler broke his own W&L record in the 10,000m by over 30 seconds at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell on Friday. Strehler crossed the finish line in 30:19.58, crushing his previous mark of 30:50.22. He was 22nd overall in the race and the sixth-best Division III athlete.
Strehler's time is the fastest in the ODAC this season by almost three minutes and the mark is the ninth-best in Division III this year.
Stanton won the pole vault at the WildCat Invitational hosted by Randolph on Saturday. She cleared 3.55m (11'7.75") to take the top spot. The mark also tied a season-best for the senior and is the best in the ODAC this season, which she has registered at three different meets. The next closest leap in the ODAC is 3.25m.
The men’s and women’s track and field teams host the ODAC Championship this Friday and Saturday at Wilson Field.
